Using pliers to squeeze superglue doesn't end well

There's no way to use Skype on the Evo currently. Skype pulled itself from Fring, and is now developing their own (paid) app. I've never heard of Oovoo. One thing you might try is Fring, but using it through the IM's it supports. I know it can do some video chat that way.

I've been looking into the same thing.  It looks like Skype is determined to monopolize the market.  Right now I'm using Fring, but as far as I can tell you can only video chat with other Fring users.  I use it for AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, MSN and Talk and so far it has told me that none of them support video calls, eventhough I can video chat with people on the PC, it won't work with Fring.
